WTF is...

Absinthe - An anise-flavored spirit derived from several plants, including flowers, leaves, sweet fennel, and other medicinal and culinary herbs. It tastes like black licorice mixed with a bit of an herbal aroma.

Angostura Bitters - A concentrated liquid from Trinidad and Tobago based on herbs and spices and used to flavor alcoholic beverages. It has a spicy flavor with hints of clove and cinnamon.

Benedictine - An herbal liqueur produced in France reputedly flavored with twenty-seven flowers, berries, herbs, roots, and spices. It is sweet and aromatic with lots of honey notes.

Campari - An Italian liqueur, considered an apéritif, obtained from the infusion of herbs and fruit in alcohol and water. It has a strong bittersweet flavor, with notes of orange peel, cherry, clove, and cinnamon.

Falernum - A syrup liqueur from the Caribbean. It contains flavors of ginger, lime, and almond, and most often also of cloves or allspice. It may be thought of as a spicier version of orgeat syrup.

Orgeat - A sweet syrup made from almonds, sugar, and rose water or orange flower water. It has a pronounced almond taste and is used to flavor many cocktails.
